About the Living Lab

In Aragon, the Living Lab will look at how technology can help to increase the attractiveness of the territory, boosting local economy and finding solutions to identified challenges, while preserving the natural resources and environment of the rural regions of Maestrazgo and Gúdar-Javalambre.

The two regions are located in the southeast of Aragon and both present depopulation, ageing population and masculinisation, they are dispersed areas, located at high altitude, with hard climate conditions and a complex landscape that prevents the improvement of infrastructures (physical and digital).

The area is rich in natural resources, cultural and monumental heritage, offering a large variety of touristic attractions essential for a tourism-based economy. The territory is well known for black truffle, having the largest production in Europe, and for pig breeding (mainly for Teruel PDO ham), together with the traditional industry derived from these products.
