As the DESIRA project draws to a close after 4 years of hard work, the final versions of our digital tools are now becoming available. One of the most valuable tools developed by ATHENA under the project is the Living Lab Modeler, which has been designed to help researchers and stakeholders in the agricultural sector to add value to their Living Lab activities and operations.

The Living Lab Modeler is an online tool developed as part of the DESIRA project, which amplifies the activities and impact of the Living Labs involved. With the Modeller, users can explore detailed information about Living Labs, the stakeholders involved, the activities carried out, the results achieved, and the socio-economic impact of their work.

A living lab is a real-world environment where users and stakeholders can collaborate and experiment with new technologies and services. In the case of the Living Lab Modeller tool, the agents represent the users, the technologies, and the services that are part of the living lab. The Living Lab Modeler tool facilitates and organises the participatory processes and also leverages the activities and outcomes of the Living Labs. It streamlines and rationalizes processes, assesses the impact of LL’s activities, and helps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

To use the Living Lab Modeler tool, users need to register the Living Lab and define its characteristics, different agents, and their interactions. The tool provides a graphical interface that allows users to create and configure the different agents, and to specify their domains, Cyber-physical-social system used, and digital technologies applied, among other options. Users can also define the relation to the Sustainable Development Goals, main activities, and outcomes. Once registered, the Living Lab can be made public, allowing sharing of experiences and examples of good practices between LL stakeholders.

Overall, the Living Lab Modeler tool is a powerful and flexible tool that can help researchers and stakeholders to add value to the activities of their Living Lab in the field of digital agriculture and rural development, as well as in other fields. With its open-source and user-friendly interface, the tool provides valuable insights and guidance for the development of innovative and effective living labs.
