On 12 May 2022, the German DESIRA Living Lab in Rhineland-Palatinate carried out its use case workshop in Betzdorf. The purpose was to refine an use case focusing on digital potentials for the social cohesion in the region. Based on the project results generated so far in the living lab, the need of a digital tool to bring people together, regardless of their age and origin was articulated. In the workshop, this idea was developed further into the concept of a web application to support the coordination, organisation and realisation of meetings and events.
Twelve participants from Betzdorf-Gebhardshain – members of the administration as well as citizens – took part in the workshop, bringing in their individual perspectives. Many fruitful ideas were collected to encounter tendencies of social separation and a decreasing exchange between the generations, which have intensified during the Covid-19 pandemic. The use case workshop was not only very productive but lots of fun for the participants as well as the DESIRA team.
