On 29th October, Leanne Townsend gave a keynote presentation at the EIP-AGRI “Small is Smart” workshop in Bucharest, Romania.
Workshop participants included farmers, farmers’ organisations, foresters, EIP-AGRI Operational Groups, SMEs, start-ups, advisors, universities, research and technology organisations, foresters, rural networks and others involved in relevant initiatives and projects. The overall aim of the workshop was to promote networking among people and projects dealing with innovation and adoption of new technologies in small farm and forestry holdings. The objective was to find common issues, explore possibilities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. In her keynote presentation,
Leanne introduced the DESIRA project to participants, focusing on the theme of responsible research and innovation in the context of small farms across Europe. Besides, she highlighted the number of challenges that small farms across Europe are currently facing and how these are impacting the resilience of rural communities.
